    Hello!

    One of my clients applied for PGWP on Jan 21, 2024. Due to his passport’s early expiry, he received PGWP until March 3, 2025. After renewing his previous passport, he submitted a paper-based PGWP extension application on October 15, 2024, which was received on October 17, 2024 (according to Canada Post Tracking) but did not receive any other confirmation from IRCC. As his PGWP expires (March 3, 2025), does he need to do anything to maintain his status after the expiry of the current PGWP? I am asking this question because he has received no confirmation from IRCC.

    He has maintained status (assuming the application was complete). If you want to be safe, you may apply for a work permit online but mention he has already applied on paper. You may then withdraw the open application when the other one is approved.
